I am not currently accepting health insurance, but I would be happy to offer what is called a “Superbill,” which shows an itemized list of services you have received from an out-of-network provider. If you have a PPO health plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement for your services. I recommend reaching out to your network directly to learn more information that is specific to your plan.
My fee is $250 per session.
All of my sliding scale spots are currently occupied. You can always check back in the future and see if anything is open!
During our first therapy session, I’ll gather information about your symptoms, collaborate with you on goals for treatment, and ask you questions about what you want to get out of therapy. For example, if you were getting what you wanted out of our therapy sessions, what would your life look like in 3 months? In 6 months? What would your life look like on the outside if our goals in treatment were met?
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.
I find that consistent weekly therapy sessions have the most productive results. Therefore, I meet with clients once a week, every week.
First off, a huge goal of therapy is to not be in therapy forever! Effective therapy should provide you with the insight, awareness, and tools to be able to regulate your emotions post-treatment. I find that meeting every other week or once a month gives too much time to simply “catching up” rather than actually doing the work. Typically, I start off weekly sessions by asking if there were any “crises of the week” or specific issues to attend to. If not, then we will dive into your treatment goals.
Therapy treatment goals are exactly what they sound like…what you want to achieve out of therapy! Sometimes, these goals may be very structured. Other times, treatment goals may be more abstract, such as processing issues from the past or exploring attachment styles. I believe that processing the past is one of the most helpful and informative treatment tools that we can give ourselves. It helps create insight and awareness into our present-day triggers and behaviors, + increases self-compassion and understanding as to why we are the way we are. That “missing link” makes it easier to actually start doing the work. Don’t get me wrong…uncovering the past is not what I would call an easy process, but it’s a process that helps increase self-worth. A process that “wakes up” and challenges our subconscious.
How many sessions an individual needs is just as unique as they are. If you are simply looking for coping skills or working on a very specific issue, then short-term therapy may be a great option for you. However, if you are looking for long-lasting changes and/or processing past traumas, it can be more long-term. Typically, my clients give a six to eight month commitment to process and work through issues impacting them today. Some clients also prefer ongoing therapy for maintenance and weekly check-ins. Healing from a trauma, learning how to trust others and be vulnerable, and utilizing an entire holistic approach to healing (which includes a greater understanding of your body and changing neural pathways in your brain!) is likely more long-term.
Yep! I conduct all my therapy sessions virtually utilizing a HIPAA-compliant platform.
I only work with adults 21+. If you are seeking therapy for children or teens, I would be happy to refer some great teen counselors your way!
Consultations are a great way to meet your potential therapist. A consultation will not just give you an opportunity to see if you “vibe” with the provider, but also a chance to determine if their specialties align with what you want to work on.
If you are wondering what questions to ask a therapist during a consultation, you can check out my blog post here.
And remember…you never need to commit to services that you don’t want, and you always have a right to cancel or pause treatment at any time.
